The "Summer Thaw"

(Arctic Ocean Thawing)

The storm season is over and the midnight sun is upon us here at Thule.  We have not seen the sun actually set since late April and will not see it set until late August.  This has been a very weird experience and does mess with a person and their sense of time when we are out seeing the sights and exploring the area.  This makes for a fun weekend of adventures and photographs, however the beauty of the snow is giving way to the return of the mud season.  The summer “thaw” has produced some amazing sights and also has the wildlife active as the fox, hare, and migrating birds and is about to bring their young into the world in this unique environment.  Their search for food, dens, and nesting areas has provided some unique photography opportunities.

Stay tuned for more pictures as the seasons change here at Thule!
